Telecoms & IT Law
The telecoms sector in Uganda is governed by the Communications Act and regulations made thereunder. SIPI Law has been providing legal solutions to product development firms and is well placed to provide legal counsel on regulatory developments, both Telecom and Broadcast Licensing, Competition regulations and other industry specific advice.
The information sector is also set to see new convergence of regulatory agencies, with the Uganda Communication Commission formally merging with the Media / Broadcasting Council through an Act of Parliament. This development should ease processing of licenses, coordinate consumer protection issues and give a stronger platform on which the Communication Authority can give oversight to emerging areas such as Mobile Money Transfers (MMT).
SIPI Law Associates is at the forefront of advising its clients on implementation of the Electronic Signatures Act, Computer Misuse Act and the Electronic Transactions Act.
